It is impossible to say how long a job search will take, but typically it is longer than you think it will be. Because of that, it is never too soon to prepare for or to start your job search, even if you are months or years out from being ready to start a new position. The main reason for this is that an effective job search almost always involves more than just submitting an application for a job. It often requires networking, gaining professional credibility, identifying roles of interest, crafting a strong/tailored resume, and showcasing your credentials to be noticed by employers.
