List your degrees in reverse chronological order, starting with your the most recent. Keep these tips in mind:

  • Include the degree name, specialization if applicable, college/university name, location and date of graduation.
  • You may either use the full degree name (i.e. Doctor of Philosophy in Education), or the acronym (i.e. PhD in Education) as long as you are consistent across all degrees listed.
  • If a degree is currently in progress, indicate that by writing "Expected" and the month and year you plan to complete your program.
  • This section is reserved for formal degrees, so put your certifications and trainings in their own section.

Here’s an example of what this section may look like. You will notice that the degree name is bolded to call special attention to it. Additionally, you do not need to include the date for previous degrees.

Master of Science in Education, Expected March 2013
Specialization in Leadership in Educational Administration
Capella University, Minneapolis, MN

Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, minor in English
Spelman College, Atlanta, GA
