Faculty salaries can vary by level of teaching assignment, geographic region, subject taught, and the specific college or university. For example, some pay by student, some by credit hour, and others by course section. The Chronicle of Higher Education has created a searchable Faculty Salary Survey which uses figures compiled by the American Association of University Professors. This survey includes ten years of average faculty salaries at more than 1,200 institutions. You can search by full-time or adjunct faculty. Do know that the adjunct data is based on self-reported information about adjunct faculty pay and working conditions. You can use this tool to explore your area’s marketplace to learn what is common and research places you would like to work.

Additional resources and information can be found in the teaching in higher education section.
