The overall focus of your resume should be on the employer’s needs. Including an objective statement at the top of a resume is an outdated practice because it focuses on what you want rather than what you have to offer. Instead of describing your career objective to the employer, it is more valuable to provide specific information about your qualifications for the job that they are trying to fill. This is why the objective has been replaced by a professional summary. The summary section provides you prime real estate to describe your skills, experiences, and expertise as related to the job posting.
