It can be tempting to apply to many job postings, thinking that reacting to all posted jobs that are even close improves your chances. A more proactive and focused approach to your job search can actually be more effective. Before applying to any jobs, be sure you understand your job “target”. What is the title/role that you are aiming for based on your skills, education, and experience? If you are unsure of your target, completing a career exploration exercise and identifying your professional assets may be beneficial.

The more focused you are in your application efforts, the more time you may have for other job search activities such as networking and connecting with others, which is the most effective approach to a job search.
