Capella University’s IRB requires that all learners conducting research with participants obtained informed consent prior to collecting data from the participant. Capella University’s IRB does not waive informed consent or allow for implied informed consent (by participating in the study you agree to be in the study). Informed consent must be actively obtained. Additionally, the participant must be provided with an informed consent form.

In certain types of action research conducted within the practitioner doctorate programs allow for different models of obtaining informed consent. If you are a practitioner doctorate learner, your school will have additional information on informed consent in action research. You may also contact the IRB for additional information.
