IRBManager uses a web based application form referred to as an xform. The application has conditions built into it that will prompt additional question based on how you answer a specific question. For this reason, you are unable to view the entire application. However, the IRB application asks questions relating to:
- How you'll recruit, from where you'll recruit, copies of recruitment materials, permission to post/send recruitment materials, if you'll have others assist with recruitment
- How participants will be consented, if they'll sign a consent form, where they'll sign the consent form, and how they'll be able to ask questions prior to engaging in study activities
- How data will be collected, what types of data will be collected, copies of data collection materials (interview questions, surveys, focus group questions, observation protocols, etc)
- How you'll secure your data, how you'll protect the privacy of your participants and keep their data confidential, how you'll destroy your data after the 7 year retention period
- If you're using assistance in data analysis, a transcriptionist or other external parties
- Site information if you are collecting non-public information about an organisation as part of your research and contact information
- Copies of permission letters e.g. site permission letters, instrument permissions, permisison to use data, copies of purchase agreements
You should be prepared to address these questions on your IRB application.
Additionally, you will be required to upload copies of your recruitment materials and consent forms. Therefore, you should draft these prior to beginning the application. Remember that the consent form must be on the appropriate Capella templates.
