Yes, writers can set tables that are wider than 6 inches horizontally, or landscaped. If using horizontal or landscaped tables, keep the following in mind:

  • Setting the tables in a landscaped, or horizontal, section will require adding section breaks. 
  • If following best practice for desktop publishing, set the page numbers for the landscaped pages so that they fall in the same spot on the physical page as the portrait (standard) page numbers. For a walk-through on moving the page numbers, see Word's help menu or Google "adding portrait page numbers to a landscape page."

All landscaped pages must have page numbers.
