If you listed Capella University as a creditor, Capella University should have received notice of your bankruptcy filing. You can also provide us notice by emailing CapellaBusinessOffice@capella.edu with your case number.
Your eligible unpaid balance will not be pursued while you are in the period between your bankruptcy petition and discharge or dismissal decision. If your debts are discharged, Capella will not pursue the debts eligible to be covered by the discharge. If your case is dismissed, you are required to pay the outstanding balance and collection activities may resume. Any bankruptcy actions on your record may affect your payment requirements for future courses.
Financial Aid
Bankruptcy does not typically impact your ability to use federal Stafford Loans and Pell grants. Access to Graduate PLUS loans and other credit based forms of aid will likely be impacted by the filing. Once your bankruptcy is complete, you will need to resign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) to regain access to any Stafford funding and let the Office of Financial Aid know about your bankruptcy filing.
