Any outside scholarship checks need to be processed by the Financial Aid office to ensure they fit within your financial aid budget. After being applied to your account, if you are eligible for a refund of scholarship funds, a refund will be issued directly to you once an award adjustment has been completed.
If you use Financial Aid:
We start disbursing scholarships and grants at the same time as other forms of aid (typically the third week of the course). However, since many scholarships come with additional eligibility requirements that Capella needs to verify, it is not uncommon for funds to apply to your account a little later than federal funding (often in the third or fourth week of courses).
If you have a financial aid application started, but not finished, your scholarship will still be applied during the second week of courses, when financial aid generally disburses.
Certain scholarships and grants have registration requirements which may cause them not to be applied until after the second week of courses. Please check with the organization granting your scholarship to ensure that you are aware of relevant application deadlines and the requirements for you to maintain your eligibility.
