When you are offered federal aid for a term the amount offered assumes that you complete the courses you registered for. If you drop to 0 active credits or program points after the end of the add-drop deadline (first two weeks of the term)where you received federal financial aid we are required by law to calculate a Return of Title IV funds.

This calculation determines how much of the total offer you earned and how much you did not earn, based on your participation. The unearned portion  of your financial aid will be returned to the federal government, which means that those funds will not count towards your loan balance with the lender. In addition, those returned funds can Leave you with a balance on your Capella learner billing account.

Your financial aid funds will not be disbursed if you did not participate in your courses and dropped within the add/drop period. Depending on when you drop your course, you may owe a tuition balance based on our tuition refund schedule.

If you officially withdraw from the university, any undisbursed awards will be automatically canceled. This typically happens by the end of the term in which you withdrew. To request an offer cancellation outside of the discontinuation process, please send an email to FAST@Capella.edu.
