Adding quotation marks ("") around phrases tells a database to search for an exact phrase and will make your search more concise.

Examples:

"electronic health records"

  • Tells the database NOT to search for the word electronic, the word health, and the word records separately.
  • Database WILL search for electronic health records when the phrase is in quotations.

"American Nurses Association"

  • Tells the database NOT to search for the word American, the word Nurses, and the word Association separarately.
  • Database WILL search for American Nurses Association when the phrase is in quotations.
