Here are some tips for making research articles easier to read:

  • Start by reading the abstract, introduction and conclusion(s)
  • Skim the article to get the main idea and then focus on reading carefully
  • Once you begin reading the full article, break it down into parts, reading a section at a time
  • Take notes as you read
  • Look up words you don’t understand in a dictionary – and note the definition
  • Read the article multiple times for comprehension
  • When you’ve finished reading, summarize the article in your own words and make connections to what you already know
