Some sources within Capella’s courseroom or Campus pages are only available to Capella learners, faculty, and staff. Materials that are only available to Capella-affiliated populations should be cited as personal communications (APA Publication Manual Section, 6.20) and they would not be cited in the references list.
*If learners have intentions to publish a text outside of Capella, it is important for learners to remember that they should either not cite these sources or they should be cited as personal communications.
However, if learners are writing a text for course purposes only, where everyone in the course has access to the same materials, then it is acceptable to cite these sources in text and in the reference list. Learn about the details of this guideline on the APA Style Blog post, entitled How to Cite Course Packs, Custom Textbooks, and Other Classroom Compendiums (Hume-Pratuch, 2012).
